Elon Musks Incredible Hyperloop Is Building A Test Track In California
Elon Musk is a guy with grand dreams for mankind as well as our future.
You may know him as the CEO of Tesla, but automobiles are not his only area of expertise… he is all about shifting the transport game forever.
One of his largest (and most expensive) thoughts is the Hyperloop.
It might sound like sci fi space technology and that is likely because it essentially is. The strategy would be to construct a “train” that would go through a close-vacuum tube, floating on air, propelled by magnets.
It’d ferry passengers in windowless pods from L.A. to San Francisco in about 30 minutes. Cutting at about 6-7 hours out of that excursion. That is quite trendy or whatever I think. #sarcasm
That means the pod would be going near 800mph at its most rapid. That is nearly twice the rate an airplane flies.
Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) took Musk’s lead and has really been working with a number of the country ‘s finest engineers and scientists to produce the technology which could make the Hyperloop a reality… in about ten years or so.
However do not get discouraged! HTT only made a deal with central California landowners, carving out a site to construct a 5-mile test track.
The whole shebang is projected to cost around $100 million of which is anticipated to come from HTT’s forthcoming initial public offering.
The full scale system would cost closer to $8 billion.
Best part about Hyperloop? It would be solar- . Using the energy of the sun to ride from L.A. to San Fran in half an hour? Seems great to me.
