According to Business Insider, Zuckerberg told the audience, I think people have been asked about the dislike button for many years. Today is a special day because today is the day I can say were working on it and shipping it.
It seems Facebook is finally changing its tune on the idea. As recently as December, Zuckerberg said a dislike button wasnt likely for the site.
Some people have asked for a dislike button because they want to say, That thing isnt good. And thats not something that we think is good for the world. So were not going to build that.
As the news was announced Tuesday, many took to social media to express their excitement for the new feature.
I don’t know about you, but I hope this Dislike button gets here before election season is in full-force. #Facebook

Facebook coming out with a dislike button is going to make for a lot of awkward Thanksgivings.

Still, there are those who think its pointless.
Facebook doesn’t need a dislike button it needs a sympathy button http://t.co/Vh9ZNzyy9a pic.twitter.com/y24rawQqJE
