You Can Now Buy A Tiny New Computer For Just $9
C.H.I.P could be the next big thing.
After just a few days on Kickstarter, over one million dollars has been raised for C.H.I.P.
Nope, it’s not a TV reboot about Erik Estrada policing the highways alone, C.H.I.P. is actually a teeny, tiny 2.5-inch computer that you can buy for just 9 bucks.
The goal of the campaign was to raise $50,000 — and that amount has already been surpassed more than 20 times over. (Just got a brilliant idea… an $8 computer!!!)
The mini motherboard is fully open source (ask one of your geek friends what that means) and lets users surf the web, type documents and even play games with an optional Bluetooth controller.
Add-ons for an additional cost include a battery and monitor adapters. For just $49, you can order a PocketC.H.I.P. that makes your computer portable. It features a 4.3-inch touchscreen, a QWERTY keyboard and a 5-hour battery.
To put the price into perspective, for the cost of one Mac laptop, you could buy a C.H.I.P. and a 65″ TV… or a C.H.I.P. and over 900 beers… Decisions, decisions!
Unfortunately, C.H.I.P. will not S.H.I.P. until early next year, with some add-ons not being ready until May 2016.
