The St. Paul All Ready for Kindergarten coalition (SPARK) drafted the proposal. It aims to help approximately 5,000 St. Paul families whose children are aged 3 and 4 and live at or below the federal poverty line. … The cost of the program — $2.6million in the first year, $5.2million in the second year, and $7.8million in the third — would see St. Paul property taxes rise by $2.6million each year for 10 year. At that point, voters would be asked to authorize the program again.

In the 1970s, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), built the Little Rock Creek dam to artificially support a pond it hoped would be used by duck hunting. This is one of many obsolete dams that were built in the last century for almost forgotten reasons. They are now under scrutiny by the state and the public as they seek to restore natural water flow.

I In the Star Tribune Susan Du states that the Minneapolis Park Board will soon try to pass major alterations to Hiawatha’s golf course to fix a number of water problems. On Wednesday night, the Planning Committee will vote on a public hearing regarding the proposed Hiawatha Master Plan. The full board will weigh-in on Aug. 3 if the committee decides to hold a hearing. The hearing could be scheduled for Aug. 17 if the committee approves. A resolution to reconsider master plan will be scheduled that night.

Pre-professional women’s soccer team McLean Soccer was defeated by the undefeated Minnesota Aurora Football Club on Sunday afternoon. The match took place at TCO Stadium in front of 6,200 people. The Aurora has secured their ticket to the USL W Championship with a 1-0 victory over McLean. The Aurora will face the winner of either the South Georgia Tormenta FC (or the Greenville Liberty SC) match. They will face off in South Carolina on Sunday night.
